Fashioning the Self: You Are What You Wear? – Gallery Show at Koehnline Museum of Art
October 3 @ 9:00 am - October 25 @ 8:00 pm CDT
The Koehnline Museum of Art at Oakton Community College is having a show called Fashioning the Self: You Are What You Wear?
My artwork called, ‘Rules for Dating’ will be one of the pieces exhibited in this show.
Fashion has many definitions. As a noun, it represents the role of clothing art style, beauty and adornment and the identity and expression of the physical body. What we wear can be used as a vehicle to provide, embellish, speak or conform. Women have always struggled to fashion a life for themselves that feels authentic, but we come across barriers and restrictions that either society sets for us or we’ve set for ourselves.
This exhibit will show examples of how we’ve broken free and how we have not through fashion.
Show runs from October 3, 2019 through October 25, 2019
