You haven’t tasted a great challah, until you’ve had mine!! When I’m not painting or taking care of my family, I’m baking challahs! I started baking challahs when my kids were very young because I could not find a store-bought challah that my family would eat. How could I start the Sabbath with an awful challah?!
There is an English proverb,
Necessity is the mother of invention
I’d like to change that to, Mother’s invention was a necessity (for my family).
I started experimenting with recipes I found in cookbooks and on the internet but was not impressed and set out to create my own recipe. After countless fails, I finally created a recipe that is so good that I created a business out of it. My challahs have sat at the center of many Rosh Hashanah, Shabbat and bar/bat mitzvah tables across the country.
Though now I make them less often, I still love the process, the taste and the smells that lingers in my home.
